Dharmendra Jha awarded National Journalism Award

KATHMANDU, May 28: The government will be conferring the National Journalism Award 2071 on Dharmendra Jha of Dhanusha and the Senior Journalism Honours on Kusum Keshav Parajuli of Kaski, Tej Prakash Pandit of Tanahu and Meghraj Sharma of Palpa.

The Recommendation Committee headed by Chief of Communication Division of the Ministry of Information and Communications and Joint Secretary Purushottam Tiwari and Director General at Department of Information, Laxmi Bilash Koirala, Federation of Nepali Journalist Vice President Suryamani Gautam, Rita Gurung and Rajesh Mishra made the recommendation for the recipient of the National Journalism Award.

The Ministry has been handing over the National Journalism Award carrying a purse of Rs 200,000 every year since 2064 BS to the journalists making noteworthy contribution in journalism with steadfast commitment to the country and the people and for strengthening of democracy.

The government since 2066 BS made the provision for providing Rs 200,000 each for senior journalists making important contribution to country, people and democracy. RSS
