KATHMANDU, June 9: People on Sunday staged a demonstration at Maitighar in the capital demanding the withdrawal of the Guthi Bill registered in the National Assembly, the upper house of the Federal Parliament.
The police used water cannons during the demonstration to disperse the protestors. Culture experts are of the view that the new law will turn public Guthis (trusts) into the playground of politicians, government officials and influential people to recruit the people they desire.
