KATHMANDU, Jan 23: A meeting of the Legislature-Parliament is all set to endorse the Constitution Amendment Bill to the new constitution on Saturday itself.

According to the Legislature-Parliament Secretariat, the Constitution Amendment Bill will be endorsed at 3 pm today following the answer-question session over the amendment bill.

Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Agni Kharel will answer the questions raised by the various lawmakers over the amendment bill before the endorsement process begins.

The government had registered the Constitution Amendment Bill in order to address the demands of the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) at the Legislature-Parliament during the then premiership of Sushil Koirala. However, Madhesi parties have been opposing to the amendment proposal saying that it cannot address their demands.

As many as 24 amendment proposals have been registered over the Constitution Amendment Bill. The Constitution Amendment Bill will be endorsed on Saturday itself unless the political parties urge the Speaker to prolong the process, said Legislature-Parliament Secretariat.
