Speaking in a press meet organized at the party central office at Parisdada on Saturday, UCPN (Maoist) spokesman Agni Prasad Sapkota said that a political way out should be sought for saving the country from an imminent crisis.
He reiterated that consensus among the political parties was the nest choice for finding a way out of the present political stalemate.
Arguing that the President elected by the Constituent Assembly could not remain in post for prolonged period, the UCPN (Maoist) spokesman said his party´s view was that the election of the President should be held simultaneously with the fresh election to the Constituent Assembly.
"The next election should also be for the post of President. The President also has no legitimacy when the CA members have forfeited theirs. The term of the President has also terminated," he said.
Party spokesman Sapkota said that his party was committed to give a progressive outlet to the country and denied the opposition parties´ charge that the UCPN (Maoist) was not serious towards forging consensus.
He said political consensus has not come by as the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML) were only focusing on the government.
