JAJARKOT, May 27: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) raided the District Development Committee, Jajarkot, after the media reported about the financial irregularities at the Office.

A team arrived from the CIAA Regional Office, Surkhet, raided the DDC office and seized some documents.

The action was taken after media reported that the Local Development Officer (LDO) Dirgha Bahadur Pokhrel arbitrarily distributed the DDC budget of Rs 8.2 million allocated for Decentralized Rural Infrastructure and Livelihood Project (DRILIP), in the name of people's participation and Rs 7.3 million in the name of maintaining and upgrading the local road in the district.

LDO Pokhrel distributed Rs 8.2 million saying the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Development directed him to distribute the money.

Similarly, he had distributed the quotation of tens of thousands of rupees under DRILIP to some people. The locals padlocked the DDC Office to protest his step claiming that it was the institutional abuse of authority. RSS
