PARASI, Dec 12: Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) President Dr. Mahendra Bista on Saturday said the journalists covering the Tarai-Madhes agitation were facing risk.

Underlining the continuing interferences on press with incidents of attacks and journalists being beaten during the agitation, the FNJ President pressed the government to be serious over such incidents.

At the Tarai Madhes Media Conference held in Nawalparasi by FNJ, Bista said the 'targeted' attacks on media and journalists covering the agitation have been continuing.

During the conference, journalists based in 22 different districts of the Tarai region briefed the participants on the scenario in their respective districts and their problems including the impact on media.

The conference and the FNJ Central Working Committee meeting will conclude on Sunday with the announcement of Nawalparasi Declaration along with a substantive proposal for journalists' security and the step to be taken forward. The conference was attended by around 100 journalists from across the country. RSS
