APF beats Army in extra time to reach semifinal

KATHMANDU, Feb 22: Tribhuvan Army Club A of host Nepal Army and Nepal Police Club sailed into the semifinals of the CoAS Cup National Men's Volleyball Tournament on Monday. Army recorded two wins to enter the last four, while Police beat Army's B team to confirm its semifinal berth at the Army's court in Lagankhel, Lalitpur.

In Group B match, Army thrashed Mid-western in three straight sets in its first match. Army produced 25-11, 25-11, 25-10 victory over Mid-western.Similarly, Army also beat Far-western in straight sets. Army, which topped the group winning all three matches collecting nine points, beat Far-western by 25-19, 25-8, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Police beat B team of Army in 3-1 sets. The department team Police lost the first set by 21-25, but bounced back to claim last three sets in a row. Police won last three sets by 25-16, 25-23, 25-20.

Police, which won two matches to confirm its last four berths, has a match in hand.

In other matches, APF beat the Central region by 26-28, 25-16, 25-23, 25-14 to win its first match out of two in Group B, while Western won its first match in Group A beating Eastern region by 16-25, 27-25, 25-13, 25-15.
