90 per cent religious heritages damaged in Mustang by quake

MUSTANG, June 3: As high as 90 per cent of total religious heritages, mostly temples and monasteries, have suffered huge damages by the deadly earthquake in Mustang district.Most of the temples and monasteries except Muktinath Temple have been damaged, Chairman of Nepal Red Cross Society Mustang chapter Chandra Bahadur Thakali said.

Students, monks and Buddhist followers at home and abroad frequently visit the district for study of Buddhism and to worship in the monasteries in Mustang district.

Chairman Thakali said that Chyaden Monastery in Lho Manthang Durbar, Nanglyang Monastery of Chhonhup, Charrang, Nifuk and Jhong monasteries have been completely damaged by the recent earthquakes. RSS
