PALPA, July 26: Four people, including three of the same family, were buried to death after their house collapsed due to landslide triggered by incessant downpour in the district on Tuesday.

PALPA, July 26: Four people, including three of the same family, were buried to death after their house collapsed due to landslide triggered by incessant downpour in the district on Tuesday.


According to District Police Office, Palpa, 45-year-old Tam Bahadur Kanauje, his wife Khagisara and her daughter Yasoda Kanauje were killed in Gothadi VDC-5.


The bodies of the victims, who were buried by the landslide while they were sleeping in their house on Monday night, were retrieved only this morning.


 Similarly, a student has been buried to death after her house was buried by the landslide in Dobhan VDC-1 along the Siddharth Highway.

The deceased has been identified as ninth grader 15-year-old Ashmita BK of Tilottama Higher Secondary School. 


Six houses were buried by the landslide on Tuesday morning. The other people were able to escape as the landslide occurred at 6 am today, Kulchandra Puri told Republica Online.


The Sinddhartha Highway has been obstructed due to debris brought by the landslide.


A dozer is being used to clear the road according to Prabin Acharya, Chief of Traffic Police Office, Palpa.


Similarly, three houses were inundated by Kaligandaki River at Ridi,  an area connecting Palpa, Sayangja and Gulmi. The Ridi flood, according to local Chudamani Timalsina, is the highest in the last 35 years.


Chief District Office Baburam Gautam altered the locals as the rain is still continuing.


District Disaster Rescue Committee and Nepal Red Cross Society have jointly distributed relief materials to the landslide victims of Jhumsa on Tuesday itself.


All the rural roads including the Kaligandaki corridor have been obstructed due to landslide.
