Youth dies allegedly due to medical negligence in Sarlahi, family stages protests

SARLAHI, Sept 5: A youth died during treatment in Barahathwa, Sarlahi, on Thursday, with his family accusing a private hospital of negligence and demanding justice by placing his body in front of the hospital gate.



The victim, 38-year-old Pramod Paswan of Barahathwa-7, was admitted to Hanumant Hospital after suffering severe abdominal pain. According to family members, his condition worsened during treatment, and the hospital later referred him elsewhere while demanding a bill of Rs 7,000 be cleared before discharge.

Relatives allege that the hospital delayed his transfer until the bill was settled, worsening his condition. Paswan, who worked as a daily wage laborer, died on the way to Birgunj after being discharged in the evening.


Police said both the hospital administration and the attending doctor, Khushnandan Pandey, have been taken into custody for investigation. Meanwhile, the doctor has denied negligence, claiming excessive alcohol consumption caused the death.
