KATHMANDU, Dec 11: The CPN-UML has announced that its 11th General Convention, scheduled from December 12–14 in Kathmandu, will not include foreign guests.

The party, however, has said that they are expected to receive‘congratulatory messages from 26 political parties from different countries.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday after a meeting of the convention’s central management secretariat at the party headquarters in Chyasal, UML leader Mahesh Bartaula said that 16 domestic political parties have been invited to attend the event.

Bartaula emphasized that the party is prioritizing mass mobilization for the convention, with millions of leaders and cadres expected to converge in Kathmandu. “We are focusing on public engagement to send a strong message to elements attempting unconstitutional actions or seeking to lead the country in an undemocratic direction,” he said.

The convention will host a total of 2,268 delegates, including 108 nominated members. The secretariat has directed that remaining preparations be completed promptly to ensure the event runs smoothly.

Highlighting the party’s focus on youth, Bartaula added that each of the 165 electoral constituencies will have four delegates, with at least one delegate under 40 years of age, ensuring legal and statutory representation for young members.
