KATHMANDU, June 23: The closed session of the first general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is set to begin today, a day after it was postponed due to technical reasons linked to the verification and printing of identity cards for representatives.
Distribution of identity cards is scheduled to begin at 7:00 am on Tuesday, after which the closed session will formally get underway, party Spokesperson Manish Jha said.
The session was earlier scheduled for Monday at 8:30 am but was delayed after the verification of provincial lists of representatives and printing of identity cards could not be completed on time.

Jha said the delay was necessary to ensure procedural accuracy and avoid disputes, adding that card printing was completed overnight before distribution resumed early morning. The cards are being issued through provincial channels, with separate arrangements for all seven provinces, coordination units, and diaspora representatives.
Once the distribution process is completed, the closed session will proceed as per the revised schedule.
According to General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti, the session will open with the presentation of the Disciplinary Commission’s report by Ramakanta Rimal, followed by discussion.
This will be followed by the financial report from Treasurer Lima Adhikari, the organizational report by General Secretary Burlakoti, and deliberations on the party statute led by the joint general secretary. After the statute is approved, Party President Rabi Lamichhane will present the political report for discussion and endorsement.
The agenda also includes the possible announcement of an interim management committee by Lamichhane, after which the organizing committee will hand over full responsibility to the Central Election Commission.
The Election Commission will then release detailed information and schedule for the internal elections.
The closed session is being held at the Exhibition Centre, while the opening ceremony of the convention was held on Sunday at Guesthouse Chaur.
