KATHMANDU, Dec 15: The CPN-UML’s ongoing 11th General Convention entered a decisive phase on Monday, with the KP Sharma Oli faction finalising its slate of candidates for key positions including vice-chair, deputy general secretary and secretary.
For vice-chair, the Oli camp has proposed five names: Bishnu Paudel, Ram Bahadur Thapa, Pradeep Gyawali, Prithvi Subba Gurung and Guru Baral.

Candidates confirmed for deputy general secretary are Bishnu Rimal, Raghubir Mahaseth and Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal.
For the post of secretary, the Oli faction has fielded Lekharaj Bhatt, Chhabilal Bishwakarma, Padma Kumari Aryal, Khagaraj Adhikari, Yamlal Kandel, Dr Rajan Bhattarai, Hikmat Kumar Karki, Sherdhan Rai and Mahesh Basnet.
A total of 2,262 delegates are participating in the general convention. The race for party leadership is expected to be a high-stakes contest between incumbent Chair KP Sharma Oli and Senior Vice-Chair Ishwar Pokhrel.
