KATHMANDU, Dec 15: The faction led by senior vice-chair Ishwar Pokhrel of the CPN-UML has finalised its candidates for key office-bearers’ positions in the ongoing 11th General Convention of the party.
Pokhrel himself will contest the chairperson’s post, while Surendra Pandey has been finalised as the candidate for general secretary. For the post of vice-chair, the Pokhrel camp has confirmed Gokarna Bista, Parashuram Meghi Gurung, Binda Pandey and Arun Nepal.

Yogesh Bhattarai has been finalised for deputy general secretary, with Baijnath Chaudhary also included on the list of candidates for the same post.
For the post of secretary, sources said the names of Rachana Khadka, Binod Dhakal, Karn Thapa, Thakur Gaire, Indralal Sapkota and Purushottam Poudel have largely been agreed upon.
The Pokhrel faction has also included Krishna Gopal Shrestha and Gokul Baskota in its list of secretary candidates. “Most of the candidates have been finalized, though discussions are still ongoing and minor changes remain possible,” a source said.
