Prime, Xavier win titles

KATHMANDU, Dec 11: Host Prime College and Xavier International on Friday claimed the men's and women's title of the 13th Prime Cup Basketball Championship held in the capital. Prime edged past Xavier 40-32 in the men's final riding on 16 points of Suraj Khadgi.

Roman Shahi contributed nine points for Xavier. Nischal Maharjan of Prime was crowned the most valuable player. In the women's event Xavier toiled hard to beat Golden Gate 39-34 to lift the trophy. Maya Rai of winning team contributed 16 points for the winning team and earned most valuable player's honor.

Bishnu Magar scored eight points for Golden Gate. Meanwhile, Nepal Olympic Committee President Jeevan Ram Shrestha and General Secretary Lama Tendi Sherpa were handed letter of appreciation by Prime College. The tournament featured 18 college teams in the men's section and seven in women's section.
