KATHMANDU, May 31: Chairman of the Constituent Assembly (CA) Subas Nembang has appealed to leaders of political parties to utilize the time until June 4 to forge consensus on the disputed issues of the new constitution.

Sharing about the postponement of today's CA meeting, Nembang expressed the belief that it would somehow be a relief to the people at this time of grief if the disputed issues of the new constitution were sorted out.

He said, "People will heartily welcome the decision if political parties forge consensus regarding the issues and process of the new constitution." The next meeting of the CA has been called for June 4.

CA Chair Nembang said it was necessary to exert pressure to reach to a conclusion soon in this period as there was high possibility of consensus among political parties on the contentious issues of the new constitution. He further said that the new constitution should be promulgated soon as there were no huge differences among political parties regarding the number of provinces, saying the country would be pushed into further problem if it does not get a new constitution soon.

The CA Chairman said the new constitution could be promulgated by mid-July if political parties forge consensus on the issues and process of new constitution. RSS
