The students participated as delegates from various UN member countries and also represented different UN committees and bodies, including United Nations Children's Fund, Food and Agriculture Organization, United Nations Development Fund, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee, and Disarmament and International Security Committee. They also presented 'Draft Resolution' to the United Nations Security Council, which was followed by enthralling debate as representatives from various member states took positions for and against the draft resolution.
Their proposals incorporated contemporary issues like gender based violence, the need of modern agricultural tools for sustainable development, international policy to minimize natural calamities, refugee crisis in Europe, the status of human rights in Syria and Middle East, policies against terrorism, etc.
Kanjirowa's Principal Mahendra Khanal said, "We organized this Model UN in order to encourage our students to recognize and familiarize themselves with the pressing global issues of present times. We also wanted them to develop a habit of coming up with creative solutions to address such issues."
The school's Executive Director Kapil Dev Regmi informed that Kanjirowa has been organizing Model UN since the past four years. "We don't want to limit our students' knowledge to classroom lessons. Encouraging our students to participate in experiential learning activities like this ensures their all-round development, and eventually helps them stand out in this competitive age."
The audience members remarked that the participating students' costume, presentation, and body language were "international class."
