“Referendum was held before Sikkim was annexed to India. It is a serious matter as the same thing is coming out when Nepal’s sovereignty is in danger,” Gajurel said while speaking at a program in Reporters Club Nepal in the capital. [break]
Gajurel also said it is embarrassing for UCPN (Maoist) Vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha to raise the issue of national sovereignty and added that Shrestha could be equally as ´anti-national´ as are Dahal and another Vice-chairman Baburam Bhattarai´
In his political document presented during the party’s ongoing seventh general convention, Dahal proposed to settle border disputes through referendum. Later on, Shrestha put forth his different view on a range of issues, including the signing of BIPPA with India and Nepal´s border disputes.
