KATHMANDU, Dec. 5: The National Christian Federation Nepal has demanded that the statistics of Christian community be corrected saying the statistics of the community published recently in national census-2068 BS was wrong.

The Federation urged to correct the data as only 1.4 per cent around (300,000) Christians have been registered in the census even if there are around 11 per cent (2.5 million) Christians in Nepal.

At a news conference organised by the Federation here today, Chairman of the Federation, Dr Revsundar Thapa blamed that works were carried out in a premeditated manner to reduce the number of the community in the census and also urged to correct the data soon.

He claimed that the Federation has a data of 2.5 million Christians in Nepal.

The Federation also urged the government to be sensitive for the identity, existence and protection of the religious faith of Christians as there is a history of settlement of Christian community in Nepal since 400 years ago.
