The census aims to gather information from sectors including industry, trade, business, services, cooperatives, and private and public institutions, covering their number, type, investment, employment, production, and service provision.
The census will also provide insights into inflation, employment trends, workforce needs, and future planning, helping the government formulate policies.
Basic data will be collected from 18 sectors. Preparations for the census will be completed by mid-March (end of Falgun). Trained enumerators and supervisors will be deployed on-site from April 15 to June 21.
Dr Kamal Prasad Pokhrel, Chief Statistician at CBS, said the census is crucial to understand the state of economic units and will help the government plan future strategies. Using internationally developed modern methods and with support from experts from the Ministry of Finance and the National Planning Commission, the economic census will be conducted effectively, he added.
