95 % of Sindhupalchowk schools damaged in earthquake

SINDHUPALCHOWK, May 5: Ninety-five per cent school buildings in Sindhupalchowk district have suffered damage due to the devastating earthquake occurred on April 25.

District Education Officer, Dilnath Puri, said that there are 346 primary schools, 332 child development centres, 132 secondary schools, 92 lower secondary schools, 52 higher secondary schools, 44 private schools and 12 campuses in the district.Puri further said that the district has 2,386 teachers and 87,987 students.

He said, "Thirteen teachers so far died in the district in the quake." Three engineers, school resource persons and teachers are deployed to collect the details of the losses caused by the quake.

According to the District Education Office, discussion would be held among the school management committee, teachers and guardians regarding the resumption of schools from May 15. RSS
