KATHMANDU, Jan 26: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority on Thursday filed a case at the Special Court against Prem Chandra Jha, survey officer of Tikathali Survey Office in Lalitpur for receiving bribe from service seekers.

KATHMANDU, Jan 26: Three days after the arrest of 12 Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) employees -- including meter readers and technicians -- on charges of meter-tampering, all eight of NEA’s regional offices have transferred over 2,500 employees. NEA officials say these include meter readers, supervisors, accountants and maintenance staff.

KATHMANDU, Jan 26: A parliamentary panel has proposed that the practice of chhaupad, which is common mostly in the mid and far-western districts, should be made a criminal act, pointing out that this age-old custom is inhumane and a discrimination again women  during menstruation and the postnatal period.

KATHMANDU, Jan 26: Various international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and local NGOs involved in the reconstruction of health posts and other health institutions in the earthquake-affected districts are found constructing such structures without having their building designs approved from the government authorities. They have flouted the reconstruction guidelines even as the government has made it mandatory to have building designs approved prior to starting any kind of construction.
