Youth goes missing as rope bridge snaps

DARCHULA, Sept. 26: A youth has gone missing in the Dhauliganga River here after the rope bridge he was crossing snapped on Wednesday. The incident took place at Tamaghat, on the border between Nepal and India, in the evening. [break]



The youth is identified as 23-year-old Dhirendra Kunwar of Sunser VDC-1. He was crossing the twine bridge over the river with a load of food grains brought from an Indian town across the border.



The news of the incident came late as the incident site lies on the Indian side of the border. Tamaghat is the confluence of the Dhauliganga and the Mahakali rivers.



Meanwhile, four girls were seriously injured after lightning struck them in Dadeldhura district. They are all students at the Sitaram Secondary School, Kailapalmandu VDC-1. The incident took place on Wednesday evening.
