A tent is built in the ground and mattresses are placed for training. All the wrestlers who hail from the terai region are finding it hard to cope with the cold as the tent does not ward off the morning dew.
Worse still that the ground belongs to the temple and lots of programs take place there, thereby hindering the training, said Coach Khagendra Basnet.
The wrestlers were unable to practice as a marriage ceremony was ongoing when Republica team reached the spot on Monday.
“We couldn´t practice today because of a marriage. Public functions are disturbing our training a lot,” said Basnet.
Basnet lamented that the authorities concerned have not provided a hall in Kathmandu for the sport that was introduced in Nepal about two decades ago. “They say that the halls at the Dasharath Stadium are not vacant. If there had been a hall, we could have produced more wrestlers,” said Basnet.
This is not the first time the wrestlers were left out. During the last edition of the SAG, too, they were provided a small corner for practice at the shooting range of Satdobato Complex.
Meanwhile, NSC Vice President Pitambar Timilsina said they have not received any complaints till now. “If there is any such problem, we will seek a solution immediately,” he said.
He also informed that the NSC is working out plans for sending the wrestlers to India for training.
