KATHMANDU, Nov 11: ‘Vocational Training Award and NAS Recognition Program’ witnessed the third phase of its training program. It concluded with felicitating patrons and certifying the students of Xavier’s Academy. The first phase of the ‘Life-saving’ first aid training program was organized in the college premises on September 25 followed by the second phase conducted on October 2. The Emergency Medical Team from NAS (Nepal Ambulance Service), led by Dr Kulesh Bahadur Thapa, conducted the entire training program.
The students were trained to handle different emergencies and implement first aid guidelines. Dr Thapa along with the team of paramedics demonstrated different emergency procedures. They especially focused on choking and fainting. He also demonstrated the right use of different emergency equipments available in the ambulance, during the training.

The event was jointly organized in collaboration with NAS (Nepal Ambulance Service), Xavier’s College and P.E. Rotary Club of Kathmandu Mid-Town.
National and international delegates graced the event and shared their views on carrying out such initiatives in the future. Moderated by Neeva Mathema Pradhan, the event also demonstrated mock drills on fainting, conducting Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and child delivery by the NAS team.
Ambulances are equipped with all the needful services that a person in emergency requires. Therefore, ambulance services are highly recommended to every person in emergency,” said Ranjit Acharya, President at NAS.
Explaining further about the training, Brazil’s Ambassador to Nepal, Maria Teresa Pesoa said, “As you learn new things, it is important that you share the knowledge you have gained”.
Likewise, Badal Pradhan, Principal of Xavier’s Academy, confirmed that the training was effectively informative as it exposed students to different interactive and hands-on sessions. “We look forward to encouraging students’ participation in such trainings in the future,” he added.
