KATHMANDU, April 1: A meeting of the CPN-UML parliamentary party is currently underway, with key leadership positions—including the parliamentary party leader, chief whip, and whips—expected to be finalized.
The meeting is being held at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur, ahead of the parliamentary session starting Thursday.

Following the elections held on March 5, the UML holds 25 seats in Parliament, including nine directly elected and 16 under the proportional representation system.
General Secretary Shankar Pokharel is also expected to brief lawmakers on the party’s policies and their roles in Parliament.
Vice-chair Ram Bahadur Thapa is being widely discussed as a frontrunner for the parliamentary party leader. Meanwhile, Suhang Nembang has expressed readiness to take on the role if the party chooses him.
