KATHMANDU, Feb 25: The main opposition party Unified CPN (Maoist) on Thursday decided not to extend the Central Committee (CC) over the internal disputes.

The party which had earlier planned to add 38-members to the existing 137-member CC, failed to take decision in this regard when more than 500 names surfaced for the vacant posts.[break]

The CC members had complained that the party was poised to induct only those cadres with close links to top leaders while sidelining honest ones who have made significant contributions to the party.

“In the past, members would not oppose any decision of the top leadership, but the party has now come into the open and the leaders don´t hesitate to speak against top leaders,” said a senior Maoist leader.
