POKHARA, April 17: CPN (UML) vice-chairwoman Bidhya Devi Bhandari has said that her party could quit the government if there was dillydally in the constitution writing.

Inaugurating the seventh district convention of All Nepal Women Association Kaski chapter here Friday, the UML leader claimed that the UML joined the Nepali Congress-led government only by realizing the responsibility of constitution writing. "Power sharing with the NC is not UML's wish but a compulsion", she said.

The NC leadership in the government invites its party lawmakers and activists to distribute budget as the NC has taken the responsibility of finance ministry and local development ministry, she added.

On a separate context, Bhandari said the UCPN (Maoist) was hindering the constitution writing process by creating hurdles as consensus was forged in all issues except in federalism.

On the occasion, Chairman of Parliamentary Development Committee Rabindra Adhikari admitted that there was slight delay in constitution making by forwarding the correct and democratic agendas. Adhikari also pledged to draft the new constitution from the current Constituent Assembly (CA).

Lawmakers Sita Giri Oli and Tuka Hamal, Association's district chair Mitra Kumari Gurung Subedi and others expressed their opinions during the programme. RSS
