Nepal, who won the cup for four consecutive times in the past, returned home after they were crashed out of the tournament after losing to Afghanistan in the semifinal.
Commenting on their loss, skipper Gyanendra Malla said some of the players failed to perform as expected in the batting line even as the team had made good run chase in two matches.
“Bowling and fielding was considered to be the Nepali teams´ main weapon but this time we failed in it as well, as compared to our performance in the earlier editions of the cup,” Malla said.
In the group match, Nepal had beaten Saudi Arabia by 137 runs in its first match, Malaysia by six wickets in the second match and Singapore by three wickets in the third match. They had lost to Hong Kong by 36 runs in the last group match.
