Two arrested for alleged involvement in assault and vandalism during Gen-Z protest

KATHMANDU, Oct 28: Police have arrested two youths for their alleged involvement in vandalizing a police office and assaulting police personnel during the Gen-Z demonstrations on September 9.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Alish Shrestha (22), a native of Golanjor Rural Municipality-1 in Sindhuli and currently residing in Sukedhara, Kathmandu, and Saurabh Tamang (27), from Uttargaya Rural Municipality-4 in Rasuwa, currently living in Manamaiju, Kathmandu.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, both suspects were taken into custody on charges related to the attack. They are accused of assaulting Policeman Uttam Thapa of the Police Circle, Maharajgunj, and carrying out acts of vandalism and arson targeting the Circle.

Police said further investigation into the incident is underway. It may be recalled that Policeman Uttam Thapa and Assistant Inspector Milan Raya were killed during the attacks on the Maharajgunj Police Circle.
