Speaking at a press conference at the party headquarters in Kathmandu on Friday, Thakur said, “Constituency delineation in Madhesh should be based on the Clause 3 (a) of Article 63 of the Interim Constitution of Nepal.”
He further said that they need 50% representation as more than 50 percent of the total population is living in Tarai. Thakur claimed that less representation would further sideline the marginalized communities. [break]

“A three-day central working committee (CWC) meeting of our party concluded on Saturday has decided to expedite process for unification with other Madhesi parties with an aim to prepare conducive environment for a meaningful Constituent Assembly (CA) poll and to set up agendas for the poll, and to work for overall election process,” said Thakur.
On a different note, Thakur said that despite threats to his party and other madhesi parties from the Tarai- based armed outfits, they are not much worried.
“Everyone has right to speak in democratic practice and they (outfits) are just enjoying their fundamental rights by giving threats to us,” said Thakur, adding, “It would not create any hurdels to our party.”
He further clarified that an alliance of the five Madhesi parties; United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) is still legitimate.
Thakur said that unification talks between his party and other Madhesi parties are heading positively. “We have been intensifying talks to unify all Madhes-based parties into a single party,” he said, adding, “But the talks have not yet yielded any results.”
A party insider seeking anonymity said that party members are not interested for unification talks.
“Central committee members don’t want to forge unification with any other Madhesi parties as they are likely to lose their current position in the unified party,” said the leader.
He further said that his party would go for unification only if his chairman Thakur is accepted as a common leader. However, chairperson Thakur claimed that there are no any disputes regarding the leadership.
