The vandalism comes in the wake of campus administration preparing to run regular classes after Free Students Union (FSU) elections held on March 19.
According to campus chief Krishna Subedi at Martyrs Memorial Campus, an unidentified group of students vandalized the campus a day before they were preparing to run regular classes.
While the CPN-UML-affiliated All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) and the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist)-affiliated All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) have been demanding campus administration to resume classes, the Nepali Congress-affiliated Nepal Students Union at the Martyrs Memorial Campus has announced not to let the campus open unless the FSU result is declared invalid. NSU had boycotted the FSU election.
Likewise, a group of students vandalized Balkumari College in Narayangardh Monday morning, demanding that regular classes be resumed. NSU has alleged that students belonging to ANNFSU and ANNISU-R had vandalized the campus. However, ANNFSU has refuted the allegation.
In a similar incident, students at Birendra Multiple Campus picketed the campus Monday morning demanding that regular classes be resumed at the earliest. The agitating students along with the FSU officials elected in the recent election had staged demonstration while keeping the campus chief inside.
Earlier, students had vandalized Birendra Campus in Bharatpur in the district.
