SPORTS BRIEFS: ANFA seeks suggestions from clubs

KATHMANDU, Aug 8: Before finalizing the players´ regulations and calendar for 2067-2068 BS, the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Sunday has asked for suggestions from 18 first division clubs.



Though the clubs have agreed on ANFA´s annual calendar there will be more discussions regarding players´ regulations, stated Manamohan KC, general secretary of Jawalakhel Youth Club and a participant of the meeting. [break]



As per the ANFA calendar, three knockout tournaments will be held this year and A Division League will be held in April, 2011, and National League in December, 2011.



Player´s registration will begin from August 17 despite full approval from the clubs regarding players´ regulations. Following the registration, players need to remain in the registered clubs until mid-March 2012. A knockout football tournament comprising 18 A Division clubs will be held from September 20 to October 6.



ANFA has called a meeting of the clubs on August 13 to finalize the players´ regulations. The calendar will be made public after the working committee meeting on August 16.





NMGC gets int´l membership



KATHMANDU, Aug 8: Nepal Martial Arts Games Committee (NMGC) has received membership of the World Martial Arts Games Committee (WMGC).



A press release issued by Swayambhu Raj Dangol, general secretary of NMGC, on Sunday states that the working committee meeting of WMGC has decided to grant the membership to NMGC.



“We are confident that the decision will help in further development of martial arts in Nepal,” the press release states.





Life guard course begins



KATHMANDU, Aug 8: American Red Cross Life Guard Course kicked off in the capital on Sunday.



The seven-day course is being organized by Nepal Swimming Association (NSA) with US technical support. Altogether 56 swimmers and officials are enrolled for the course.



Two instructors of Project Swim International have arrived in Nepal to conduct the course. The course will be held at the health club of Nepal Police Club and Bulls Club, Nakkhu.



The National Sports Council had restructured NSA last month, appointing Samim Miyan Ansari as the president, but the Nepal Olympic Committee recognizes Pragun Shamsher Rana as the rightful president of NSA.
