Sneh Rana betters own air rifle record

SINGAPORE, July 1: Nepali athletes participating in the First Youth Asian Games performed better than expected but could not produce results. In women´s 10m air rifle shooting, Nepal´s Sneh Rajyalaxmi Rana bettered her personal record of 381 points. Her 385 points out of 400 was just a single point less than the national record. [break]



Similarly Juhi Chaudhari scored 347 points in the same event.



In 3-on-3 basketball, both men´s and women´s teams could not register a win. The men´s team were defeated by Sri Lankan team while the South Korean team handed a defeat to the women´s team.



Nepali table tennis players could not claim victory in the singles against Kuwait which gave them an unbeatable 2-0 lead. Alina Maharjan and Pradip Roka´s victory in the mixed doubles was too little and too late for Nepal.



In the other match, Sonu Kumar Rai´s victory in men´s singles could not prevent Philipines from winning 2-1 as they had already won in women´s singles and mixed doubles.



Nepal´s Siddanta Adhikary, who narrowly missed out on the heats of the 400m, decided not to participate in the 800m race citing his failure in 400m sprint.
