KATHMANDU, Oct 2: National team and Three Star Club skipper Sagar Thapa and Tribhuvan Army Club coach Meghraj KC have been handed one-match suspension. The disciplinary committee of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Friday took the decision following their unsporting behavior during last Friday's National League match between Three Star and Army in Satdobato, Lalitpur.

According to a bulletin issued by ANFA, the decision was taken on the basis of reports submitted by the match commissioner, referee assessor and the match referee. Meanwhile match referee Shrawan Lama will also be punished internally, states the ANFA bulletin. The Three Star skipper will miss next two matches of the league against Lumbini and Jhapa, because he was also booked for second yellow card against Army. Coach KC, a former assistant coach of the national team, was handed a touchline ban and will not be allowed to sit during the team's next match against Morang FC.

ANFA has asked both Sagar and coach KC to furnish explanation on their behavior by Monday.

Sagar had verbally abuse match referee Lama after he was yellow carded for a foul against Deep Lama in the 79th minute. Referee Lama however did not react or punish Sagar for the abusive behavior. Coach KC had furiously reacted over the referee's decision for not taking any action during the incident.

After the match, coaches of both the teams -- KC and Rajendra Tamang of Three Star -- had severely criticized the referee for poor judgment. Three Star Coach Tamang had said that the referee lacked ability to officiate tough match while KC had expressed dissatisfaction over the unfair judgment by the referee.
