KATHMANDU, Oct 3: Six people were killed and 10 others injured when a passenger bus traveling from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu overturned in Binayi Tribeni Rural Municipality-2 of Nawalparasi East on the East-West Highway.
According to Nepal Police, the bus, with registration number Province 3-01-006 Kha 1553, overturned into a roadside drain at S Mod after the driver lost control.
Six injured after passenger bus overturns
There were 18 people, including the driver, on board. Six passengers died, 10 were injured and two others escaped unhurt.
Police identified one of the deceased as 50-year-old Nirjung Khatri of Bheriganga Municipality-3, Jajarkot. The identities of the other five deceased are yet to be established.
The injured have been identified as Harisharan Thapa, 30, of Gorkha Municipality-9; Tejendra Prasad Bhandari, 28, of Mangalsen Municipality-6, Achham; Aakriti, 20, of Thakurbaba Municipality-1, Bardiya; Pawan Budha, 32, of Swamikartik Rural Municipality-5, Bajura; Sanjay Tharu, 28, of Rajapur Municipality-9, Bardiya; Prem Bam, 25, of Swamikartik Rural Municipality-1, Bajura; Anoj Khatri, 29, of Kunjyosom Rural Municipality-5, Lalitpur; Lal Bahadur Karki, 36, of Bansgadhi Municipality-7, Bardiya; Aslam Bhagwan, 48, of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-16, Banke; and Anil Budhathoki, 21, of Bangad Kupinde Municipality-1, Salyan.
A police team led by Inspector Thaman Singh Rana reached the site after receiving information about the accident and rescued the injured. They are receiving treatment at Madhyabindu Provincial Hospital in Danda.
