While the paperwork for the reconstruction is over, it is still uncertain when the construction work will begin.
"The tender has been forwarded and the project has entered the mobilization phase. Construction of the new bridge should begin soon," said Subodh Devkota, an engineer with the Department of Roads.
As the monsoon is on its way, Devkota feared that the contractors might wait for the monsoon to be over before the construction actually began.
"We have told the contractors that the construction should be completed within a year, but that is unlikely," Devkota said.
"The people of Sinamangal are fed up with the constant traffic jams on the makeshift bridge," said Sundar Shrestha, a resident of Sinamangal.
Shrestha is doubtful whether the makeshift bridge that was constructed by dumping gravel over hume pipes will survive the monsoon.
"I don´t know what will happen to the makeshift bridge, when water flow increases in the river," Shrestha added. Locals complained that the makeshift bridge is too narrow and could collapse anytime.
