With a goal of having a one-page outline for a short feature by the end of the fourth days, the workshop will be conducted in two phases: Conventions of narrative structure, and writing for a visual medium.[break]
Participants should come with an open mind and should be able to interact with the instructor in English.
Enrollment is limited to 20 seats and is based on first come first serve basis. If the number of applicants exceeds 20, then KIMFF (Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival) will make the final selection.
The contents of the workshop include topics like Pre-Verbal of Language of Cinema: Writing words in an art form that is primarily visual; Techniques for having ideas: Collecting data, organizing data, incubating the material, preserving the spark; Dramatic Irony: When your audience knows more than characters on screen; Cutting dialogue: Reducing dialogue to express narrative more visually; and The One Page Treatment: Breaking the narrative structure of your film into a one-page treatment, among several others.
The workshop will be held at Rastriya Sabha Griha (City Hall) from 9 am to 11:30 am from December 9 to12.
A participation fee of Rs 1,500 will be charged to cover administrative costs and tea/coffee during the workshop.
Participants will receive certificates on completion of the workshop. They will receive season tickets to KIMFF 2011.
