5 things about Shan Basnyat

Shan Basnyat is one of the pioneers in the field of scriptwriting. He did a diploma in Hotel Management from Singapore in 2008, but his career took a turn when he joined a six-month course on Journalism at Media Point, Banasthali. His career as a scriptwriter started with a social thriller film ‘Vigilante 3D’. Moreover, his scriptwriting can also be seen in popular films like ‘Jholey’, ‘Punte Parade’, ‘How Funny’ and ‘Chapali Height 2’. Shan is currently engaged as a creative director in a celebrity reality show, slated to be aired soon.

In conversation with My City’s Sonam Lama, Shan revealed five things that people may not know about him.


A dreamer

Shan prefers calling himself a dreamer in a sense that he has a dream of writing books on self-discovery and mystery in the near future. Having tested his creativity in various genres of scriptwriting, he is eagerly looking forward to try his hands in writing love stories.

An animal lover

Although an all-time foodie, Shan has been a vegetarian for 10 years now. He loves visiting restaurants in order to tickle his taste buds with new flavors. The reason behind him being a vegetarian is because he is an avid animal lover.


A supporter of feminism

Shan says he grew up seeing his mother taking lead in her personal as well as professional life. Inspired by his mother, he believes in gender equality and that women have the capacity and zeal to successfully run every work station.


Fond of literature

Apart from watching TV series, Shan prefers reading fiction and mystery books in his spare hours. He splurges much of his earning on books and has ended up collecting about 600 of them. He prefers reading the works of Gabriel García Márquez, Haruki Murakami, Amar Neupane and Nayan Raj Pandey, among others. 


An introvert

Shan rarely prefers attending social gatherings. He is socially inactive and takes time to get close with people he encounters. Rather than interacting with people, he takes pleasure in reading the works of his favorite writers and expressing his thoughts through 

writing.
