Rujesh honored with Rs 210,000

KATHMANDU, Dec 18: Silver medalist of the Seventh World Bodybuilding Championship, Rujesh Shahi, was honored with cash prize of Rs 210,000 in Kathmandu on Friday.

Nine individuals and two organizations jointly felicitated Rujesh with the cash award during a program organized in Kathmandu. National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista handed over the amount to Rujesh.Rujesh had claimed the medal in men's 55 kg event during the championship held in Bangkok, Thailand from November 24 to 30. The achievement is the highest in Nepal's bodybuilding history.

Five years ago, Shyam Shrestha had won bronze medal in the second edition of the championship held in India.

Rajesh Babu Shrestha facilitated with Rs 50,000 while Nepal Bodybuilding and Fitness Association provided Rs 20,000. Similarly, Dinesh Rajbhandari, general secretary of the association, and members Sunil Rajkarnikar and Mohan Krishna Shrestha provided Rs 20,000 each. Secretary of the association Rajan Shrestha and member Okil Lal Tuladhar, Divine Physical Fitness Center Kalimati, New Gold's Gym, Lalitpur as well as Sunita Pradhan and Iren Shrestha contributed with Rs 10,000 each.

Meanwhile, Maheshwar Maharjan, who finished fourth in 60 kg event, and team coach Genendra Nakarmi were also felicitated during the same program.
