The lawmakers, who collected public feedback on Monday and Tuesday, briefed reporters and local political cadres on Wednesday that similar suggestions were received from all three constituencies of the district."Most of the feedback are related to federalism and people have suggested forming a maximum of five provinces," said UML Lawmaker Gokarnaraj Bista, who is elected from constituency 3 of the district.
Bista, who received feedback from around 1000 people, said most of the people suggested directly electing the prime minister.
NC Lawmaker Chandra Bhandari, elected from constituency 2 of the district, informed that he received 71 verbal and 583 written suggestions. "Most of the suggestions were for keeping the Lumbini zone undivided and forming not more than five provinces," said Bhandari. "Likewise, people suggested direct election of prime minister and the president and reduction of seats allocated under proportional representation electoral system," he added.
Lawmaker Krishna Chhantel, elected from constituency 1 of the district, received 57 verbal and 1,650 written suggestions, which are similar to the suggestions received from other two constituencies.
PARBAT: According to Republica's correspondent Chabilal Tiwari, 1,137 individuals presented their suggestions on the draft constitution. According to lawmakers Arjun Prasad Joshi and Bikash Lamsal, 749 people recorded their suggestions verbally while 388 gave written suggestions.
Most of the suggestions were on reinstating Hindu state, capital punishment to rapists andthreshold for seats under proportional representation electoral system.
