Opting to bat first in Group A match, Army scored 383/6 in allotted 50 overs. The massive total of 383 runs scored by Army is the highest total in the history of one-day national tournament.
Army's feat overshadowed Region No 1's (Biratnagar) score of 324/5 against Region No 3 (Kathmandu) in last year's one-day tournament.
Anil Mandal and Mahesh Chhetri were on the spotlight for sharing a record 215-run stand for the first wicket to help Army put the highest ever total in Nepal. The partnership is also the highest for the first wicket as well as for any other wicket in the national tournament.
Anil Mandal scored 114 runs for Army facing 151 balls as he smashed a six and 16 fours. Man-of-the-match Anil's century is the first one of the current tournament. Likewise, Mahesh scored 98 runs off 111 balls that included nine boundaries, while skipper Binod Bhandari added 56 runs off 28 balls, cracking a six and nine boundaries. Naresh Budhayer contributed 41 runs off 18balls hitting a six and five fours.
Rahul Pratap Singh and Hari Shankar Sah claimed two wickets each for Janakpur.
In reply, Janakpur managed 249/6 as Rahul and Himanshu Dutta completed half centuries. Rahul scored 61 runs off 97 balls hitting 10 boundaries, while Himanshu added 54 runs facing 91 balls that included three fours. Rahul and Himanshu shared a 122-run stand for the fifth wicket. Hari Shankar added 48 runs a ball.
Jitendra Mukhiya of Army bagged highest two wickets to restrict Janakpur for the modest total.
It was the second consecutive victory for Army and two defeats in a row for Janakpur.
In another match of the same group, Biratnagar thrashed Region No 8 (Pokhara) by 174 runs.
Deciding to bat first, Biratnagar put 264/8 after Siddhant Lohani completed half century in 17 balls at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Siddhant scored 67 runs off 25 balls cracking six fours and six sixes.
Mehboob Alam added 48 runs off 50 balls, that included two sixes and four boundaries, while skipper Manjeet Shrestha added 30 runs off 46 balls.
Dipesh Shrestha of Pokhara bagged three wickets and Sushil Kandel took two wickets.

In reply, Pokhara was bundled out for 90 runs in 29.5 overs as Lalit Rajbanshi bagged four wickets for Biratnagar. Aakash Thapa of Pokhara was the highest scorer with 46 runs off 39 balls, which included two sixes and seven boundaries.
Lalit bagged four wickets giving away only 30 runs in 10 overs, while Md Hazrat Ali and Lakpa Lama took two wickets each.
