PAC directs govt to revive bidding process of MRPs

KATHMANDU, Feb 25: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Thursday directed the government to resume the bidding process for the multi-million dollar Machine Readable Passport (MRP) Project.



The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on January 15 cancelled the controversial bidding process for the MRPs, citing technical reasons. [break]



The PAC stated that the bidding process need to be revived as it was irrelevant to cancel the procedure according to the existing law of the country.



There are four international firms short listed for the bidding process - Oberthur Technologies (France), Gemalto (Finland), Sagon Security Printers (France) and 3M Techno–ogy (Singapore).
