One held for smuggling sea horses

TATOPANI: Police on Tuesday evening arrested a person for trying to smuggle gas cylinders stuffed with sea horses from Tatopani check post. Police arrested Shangey Sherpa of Bigu VDC-4 of Dolakha district along with two gas cylinders stuffed with sea horses.



 According to Border Security Office, Larcha, Sherpa was caught from a river bed near the border area. [break]



Meanwhile, Sherpa has claimed that he was only transporting the gas cylinders and was unaware of the sea horses in the cylinders. The seized sea horses will be handed over to Gaurisankar Conservation Area, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Bharat Bahadur Bohora.
