NSO and CNI sign MoU for collaboration on research and national economic census

KATHMANDU, April 7: A memorandum of understanding has been reached between the National Statistics Office (NSO) and the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) with an aim of assisting in collection, review, analysis, research and policy making on reliable data related to the national economy.  



The MoU was signed as quality and timely data was necessary for the country's economic development, industrial expansion and effective policy making. 


It was signed as per the strategy of collaborating and coordinating between government bodies and private sector for national strategy for the development of the statistics system as well as to enhance statistical quality by strengthening the collection, analysis and utilization of data of economic activities related to the private sector.

At a programme organised at the National Statistics Office, Director of NSO, Dr Bed Prasad Dhakal, and CNI Director General, Dr Ghanshyam Ojha, signed the MoU in presence of NSO Chief Dr Kamal Prasad Pokharel and CNI President Birendra Raj Pandey.   


On the occasion, CNI President Pandey opined that this collaboration would help strengthen economic data collection related to the private sector, its analysis and utilization. 


Similarly, NSO Chief Dr Pokharel mentioned that it would help in collaboration between government and private sector in the development of the statistics system, improve the quality of national economy related data and expand its use.  


There would be collaboration between NSO and CNI in national economic census, private sector statistical system development, research, policy studies, data exchange, capacity building, publicity and public awareness.
