No rain in Kathmandu for next three days

KATHMANDU, Feb 5: The Hydrology and Meteorology Division has said that there will be no rain in the Kathmandu Valley for the next three days.

A westerly low-pressure system is affecting the country, with partly to generally cloudy weather in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali Provinces; the rest of the country is clear, according to the division. Some areas of the Terai are experiencing fog.

The division further stated the weather will be partly to generally cloudy in the hilly part of the country this afternoon, while the rest of the country will be clear. There is a possibility of light snowfall in some places in the high hilly and mountainous parts of Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces and in one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous parts of Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces.

Similarly, the weather will be partly cloudy in the hilly part of the country tonight, while the rest of the country will be clear. There is a possibility of light snowfall in one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous parts of Koshi, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces.

Stating that there is a possibility of light snowfall in some places in the high hilly and mountainous parts of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces in the next 24 hours, the division has requested all concerned to avoid it as its impact may affect daily life, health, roads, and aviation.

Meanwhile, according to the department's meteorologist Binu Maharjan, there is no possibility of rain in the Kathmandu Valley for the next three days, and the sky will remain partly cloudy. He said that the minimum temperature here at 5:45 am today was 8.6 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature in the afternoon will be between 21 and 23 degrees Celsius.
