KATHMANDU, March 18: Kathmandu University's (KU) newly appointed Vice Chancellor (VC), Professor Achyut Prasad Wagle, took the oath of office today before Prime Minister and Chancellor of Kathmandu University, KP Sharma Oli.
Professor Wagle took the oath at a ceremony held at the Prime Minister's Office. Chancellor Oli appointed Professor Wagle on Monday, following the recommendation of the Search and Recommendation Committee formed to select the vacant Vice Chancellor position, as per Section 13(4) of the Kathmandu University Act, 2048 BS.
Prime Minister Oli addressed the delay in the Vice Chancellor's appointment and expressed his hope that all concerned parties would work together in the future to create a shared vision for the university with caution.
The event was attended by Education, Science, and Technology Minister Bidya Bhattarai, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Rimala, Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal, and Education Ministry Secretary Dr Deepak Kafle, among others. Professor Wagle, who previously served as the Acting Vice Chancellor and Registrar of the university, now holds the position permanently.
