KATHMANDU, Dec 26: The Home Ministry has decided to implement new ‘pass system’ to enter Singha Durbar from Sunday.
The ministry is also setting up pigeonhole at the southern gate of the principal government secretariat to facilitate ordinary public to submit their documents for processing at the concerned offices inside Singha Durbar.
Joint Secretary at Home Ministry Prem Raj Rai handed over keys of pigeonhole to officials from various 19 ministries and other government offices inside Singha Durbar premises Friday.
Officials at the ministry said concerned ministries have directed to collect letters and documents dropped at their respective pigeonhole twice a day.
As per the new provision, visitors must obtain a separate ‘pass’ to visit the ministries and their line offices inside the principal government secretariat. The new move is aimed at minimizing unnecessary visits inside Singha Durbar.
The ministry has introduced 19 different types of passes for the purpose, and that each ministry is soon appointing its own liaison officer to assist visitors. There will be three additional telephone lines at the southern gate, the gate used for the entrance by ordinary visitors.
Police will now escort delegation, if any, to concerned ministries. Police personnel deputed for Singha Durbar’s internal security have been directed to ‘discourage’ unnecessary visitors after office hours.
Altogether 11 closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs) have already been installed to monitor activities in various locations inside and outside Singha Durbar for better security.
