KATHMANDU, March 18: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday lost 7.66 points to close at 2,697.04 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,704.70 points and rose to the day’s high at 2,723.86 points just in the first two minutes. In the first one hour, the market remained stable without seeing large fluctuations. However, the market suffered a straight fall in the next moment to reach the day’s low at 2,691.01 points when the trading time was left for eight minutes. The market recovered more than six points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.
Only ‘others’ group added 2.68 points in its market value. Of the 12 losers, life insurance shed the largest of 95.34 points.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, suffered a loss of 1.06 points. Daily turnover amount plummeted to Rs 4.34 billion from Rs 5.40 billion on Monday.
Among the individual companies, only 86 were gainers while 153 were registered as losers. Himalayan Reinsurance Limited had the biggest turnover of Rs 321.11 million.
Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the largest of 8.21 percent of its market price. However, Mithila Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited enjoyed a gain of 9.96 percent in its market value, the topmost of all.
