KATHMANDU, Feb 3: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the Team of the Tournament, comprising players from various countries who performed outstandingly in the ICC U-19 Women's T20 World Cup 2025.
This includes Nepal’s captain Puja Mahato. Mahato, who was included in the team as an all-rounder, scored 70 runs while taking 9 wickets in the World Cup held in Malaysia. Mahato took four wickets against the home team Malaysia in the play-off match. The ICC has placed her as the sixth player in the team.
In the Team of the Tournament, which includes 12 players plus one extra, there are 4 players from India, 3 from South Africa, and 2 from England. Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Australia each have one player represented.
India won the title for the second consecutive time, defeating South Africa by 9 wickets in the final on Sunday to clinch the championship.
The ICC have named Gongadi Trisha, Aayushi Shukla, Vaishnavi Sharma, Kamalini Gunalan, all from India, and Jemma Botha, Kayla Reynek, Nthabiseng Nini, all from South Africa, as players in the Team of the Tournament. This also includes Davina Perrin and wicketkeeper Katie Jones from England, Kaoimhe Bray from Australia, Puja Mahato from Nepal and Chamodi Praboda from Sri Lanka.
